Before Apicoectomy Surgery

This procedure wil be performed using local anesthesia. There are usually few restrictions after the procedure concerning driving home following the procedure.  Patient’s having apicoectomy surgery cannot return to work the same day as they are advised to return home following the treatment to apply ice to the surgical area and rest. The doctor is available at all times should a question or concern arise after your treatment.

1. Avoid aspirin or aspirin-based products, including NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) one week before surgery.

2. Continue all medications for diabetes, thyroid problems and any other conditions as recommended by your physician. If there ia a question, please call our office prior to your appointment.

3. Please eat breakfast or lunch as applicable.

If you have been advised, by your physician or dentist to use antibiotics pre-medication because of mitral valve prolapse (MVP), heart murmur, hip, knee, cardiac or other prosthesis, or if you have rheumatic heart disease, please make sure you are on the appropriate antibiotic on the day of your appointment.
